Canada's Top Climate Scientist Says Vote for the Environment
Submitted by kevin on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 15:09
Canadian researcher Dr. Andrew Weaver is one of the most respected scientists in the world when it comes to climate change and yesterday he has weighed in on the whole idea of voting strategically in the upcoming election.
Scientists, including Dr. Weaver are very reluctant to step into the political fray. Normally they are a very quiet and objective group of people. However, Weaver is:
."..so 'incensed' by what he calls Prime Minister Stephen Harper's war on science and scientists, by the government's questioning of climate change and by the obstructionist positions the Tories have taken on the issue internationally, he felt he had no choice."
Dr. Weaver says global warming could cause 80 per cent of the world's species to become extinct, and destroy civilization as we know it by the end of the century.
